Mike Ahmad led the effort to bring the first Marriott-branded hotel to South America. The five-star property in Guyana was a landmark international development, requiring complex coordination with government entities and Marriott International to deliver a world-class hospitality experience.
It is my duty and pleasure to provide this most positive reference for the benefit of ADUA and Mr. Mike Ahmad.
On 2015, April 16th, the Marriott Hotel in Georgetown, Guyana was formally opened, the first Five Star International Brand Hotel in Guyana, for which much credit to Mike Ahmad. I acknowledge the leading role of Mike Ahmad/ADUA in successfully advocating Marriott to us (the Government and people of Guyana) and Guyana to Marriott.
Mike’s thorough research of the proposed site identified the need to reroute the City’s (Georgetown) ancient main sewer line outside of the proposed property. In the course of these considerations, he brought experts of a specialized American company whose presentation informed us how that job may be done adequately at a reasonable cost, utilizing present day materials and techniques. The competitive contract was won by another group; however, Mr. Ahmad was subsequently brought in to successfully complete the contract when it appeared that the first contractor was not sufficiently experienced.
I extend my recommendation of Mr. Ahmad as worthy of most favorable consideration.
